Biography

Sestino Macaro was born in Fondi, Italy. He studied at the
prestigious Conservatory of Music "Santa Cecilia" in Rome where he
graduated in Composition, Choral Music, Choir Conducting, Band Orchestration,
Piano, Music Pedagogy and Electronic Music. He has completed advanced studies
in Instrumental Pedagogy at the "L. Refice" Conservatory in Frosinone
(Italy), in Music Education at the "Tor Vergata" University in Rome,
in Kodaly Methodology at the "Summer University" of Estergom (Hungary),
in Orff Methodology at both the "Orff Institute" of Salzburg and the
"CEP" in Assisi (Italy.)
He pursued post graduate studies in Orchestra and Choir Conducting with Paul
Popescu, Arturo Sacchetti e Jurgen Jurgens. In 1990 he was granted a scholarship
from SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers) as one of the best students
of the Italian Conservatories. In the same year he was awarded a Professorship
in Composition and Choir Conducting by the Ministry of Education.
Mr. Macaro output includes works for orchestra, chamber music groups, choir,
as well as essays on music pedagogy. Many of his works have been published by
Edizioni Setticlavio, Edizioni Musicali Europee and Mkt-Osi. He also collaborates
with the review “Musica Domani” and is in the board of the review
“La Cartellina.” He is regularly invited by the OSI (Italian Orff-Schulwerk
Association) to hold lectures on Orff-Schulwerk Methodology.
Mr. Macaro holds a position as a Professor of Composition in the Music Education
Department of the Conservatory of Music “O. Respighi” of Latina
(Italy).
